Salary: Up to £34,070.40 pa. (40-hour week).

Summary of Role:
Carry out responsive, routine, and void repairs across Portsmouth City Council’s (PCC) Housing and Corporate Assets, including Social Housing, Schools, Offices, Heritage Sites, and Museums. Ensure high standards of workmanship, health & safety, and compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of carpentry repairs, including door fitting, first and second fixing, kitchen installations, tiling, and non-licensed asbestos removal (training provided).
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism.
  • Own repair jobs from start to finish, ensuring clear communication with the Operations Centre.
  • Accurately diagnose repairs, conduct risk assessments, and use appropriate PPE.
  • Complete repairs in one visit where possible, scheduling follow-up work efficiently.
  • Keep van clean, organised, and stocked with necessary tools and materials.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Organised, proactive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Good knowledge of materials, methods, and industry regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 2-3 in Carpentry or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years’ experience in social housing or building maintenance.
