Door Entry Engineer

The Role
Join our in-house maintenance team keeping Portsmouth’s homes, schools, offices and heritage sites safe and secure. You’ll handle day-to-day and void repairs, fault-find, program and commission door-entry and access-control systems (Videx, Tynetec, KMS, PAC and more). Most work is first-visit fixes, but you’ll also organise follow-ups and other trades when needed.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsive & routine repairs across PCC’s property portfolio
- Diagnosing issues, choosing the right fix and documenting every job on a PDA
- Putting safety first—risk assessments, correct PPE and tidy, protected work areas
- Delivering great customer service: polite, professional and proactive
- Looking after your van stock and kit so you’ve always got the right tools for the job
About you
- Experience: 2–5 yrs social-housing/maintenance
- · 3–5 yrs security industry
- Know-how: solid understanding of door-entry hardware & software, building materials and regs
- Qualifications:
- City & Guilds Electronic Security Systems (essential)
- City & Guilds Electronic Principles &/or BS EN 16005 Automation (nice to have)
- Confident fault-finder and problem-solver who owns each job end-to-end
- Team player with a “do-the-right-thing” mindset
