Painter & Decorator – Portsmouth City Council (Farlington)
 
Salary: £31,707.15
 
Hours: 40/week

We’re looking for an experienced Painter & Decorator to join our team in Farlington, working across Portsmouth City Council’s housing and property portfolio. This includes everything from social housing and schools to offices and heritage buildings.
 
What you’ll do:

• Carry out a wide range of painting and decorating tasks in both occupied and empty properties
• Work on routine, responsive, and void repairs, plus occasional work on other contracts when needed
• Use your skills to deliver high-quality results safely and efficiently, with great customer care
• Tasks include emulsion and gloss painting, wallpapering, artex repairs, and (with training) some non-licensed asbestos removal

What we’re looking for:

• NVQ Level 2 in Painting & Decorating (or equivalent)
• 2–5 years’ experience in social housing or building maintenance
• Strong practical skills, a professional attitude, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• A tidy work style, good communication skills, and a focus on getting repairs right the first time

You’ll need to take pride in your work, manage your own workload, and keep your van and tools in order. We’ll support you with training and clear processes so you can do your job well.
