Port Operative – Portsmouth International Port

Port Operative 

Location: Portsmouth 

Shift-based, including days, evenings, and weekends
 
We’re looking for a reliable and hands-on Port Operative for an ongoing role, to support the safe and efficient movement of containers and cargo across the Port.
You’ll play a key role in vessel loading and discharge operations, working with a tight-knit team in a fast-paced, ever-changing maritime environment.

What you’ll be doing:

• Operating plant and equipment including Forklift Trucks
• Supporting ferry and cruise operations with loading and unloading
• Handling various cargo types safely and efficiently
• Keeping port areas clean, safe, and well-maintained
• Adapting to different shift lengths (from 3 to 12 hours) based on operational needs

What we’re looking for:

• A full UK driving licence
• Tug Master ticket – essential
• Experience using port equipment (e.g., Forklift Trucks, Telehandlers)
• Background in maritime, cruise, or operational sectors (desirable)

You’ll need to be:

• Resilient and calm under pressure
• Flexible with working hours and conditions
• A strong communicator with a focus on customer service
• Proactive, with a hands-on approach to work

 
Rates:
 
Pay Rate:       £14.50
