Response Technician

Job Title: Response Office/Technician
Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 Location: Various roles across different location sites
The technician is the fundamental role within the business, directly contributing to the overall success. As the first line of response to incidents, the technician is the face of the organisation, and their conduct/professionalism is key to establishing/maintaining credibility to the customers, regulatory agencies, media, and other parties.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
• To respond to incidents safely and efficiently on a 24-hour basis, ensuring a suitable/desirable outcome for all interested parties.
• To constantly strive to develop their competencies and broaden their experiences, within all the service fields offered by the company.
• Manage, maintain, and keep stocked company vehicles with tools, PPE and equipment.
• To provide advice/coaching to Operators on an ongoing basis considering their experiences.
Main Accountabilities
• To (on a rota basis) provide 24-hour response coverage, ensuring our aim is to attend each response in a timely manner. In some cases, response is within 2 hours of call out.
• To maintain a personal log during all incident responses, ensuring a fully auditable administrative trail is maintained.
• To maintain safety as the primary driver during all incident responses
• To always conduct themselves calmly and professionally when on company business
• To fully comply with all legislative requirements, industry regulations, company policies and procedures and customer site specific rules.
• To undertake operations required to deliver a safe and efficient outcome for all responses.
• To undertake written risk assessments before any works are carried out during incident responses.
• To report all near misses, accidents and injuries to the Team Leader/Supervisor as soon as practicably possible.
• To undertake training as directed by the Senior management team.
Eligibility Criteria – Compulsory!
• Ability to pass a recognised industry standard medical, Rail PTS or Maritime Industry (ENG1) including drug and alcohol test.
• A full Driving Licence.
• Flexibility to work on a 24-hour rota basis.
• Must be available to travel at short notice across and work away from home as required.
• Proof of the right to work in the UK will be required.
Eligibility Criteria – Desirable
• Mechanical knowledge and/or experience with hydraulic equipment.
• Experience of following and/or implementing equipment maintenance regimes.
• Experience within a customer facing environment.
• Trailer Licence and Digital Tachograph, Cat B+E, C or C+E driving licence
