A well-established maintenance provider delivering reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) services across the Horsham area is seeking a skilled and reliable Handyperson to join its Maintenance Team.
The Role
You will be responsible for a wide range of upkeep and repair duties, identifying maintenance needs and responding to service requests. The Role
You will be responsible for a wide range of upkeep and repair duties, identifying maintenance needs and responding to service requests. The role requires a proactive and adaptable individual who can maintain high standards of workmanship while managing changing priorities. Delivering a safe, compliant, and customer-focused service is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and rectify faults across core trade areas and support other trades as required
- Carry out repair tasks as directed, ensuring all job records are clear, accurate, and fully completed
- Maintain high standards by documenting work undertaken, materials used, and any issues identified
- Support colleagues to deliver a professional and safe maintenance service
- Complete tasks efficiently and cost-effectively, minimising non-productive time
- Undertake porterage duties including moving equipment, furniture, and erecting signage/barriers
- Perform general fabric repairs and decorating tasks
- Carry out maintenance and repairs to street furniture
- Act as Responsible Person for Legionella
- Complete water hygiene tasks such as tap flushing, temperature testing, and TMV servicing
- Assist engineers as a second person on two-person jobs
- Carry out PPM activities including fire panel testing and water compliance checks
- Maintain accurate documentation, inspection records, and logbooks to ensure full compliance
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota
- Undertake additional duties within your competency as required
- Practical ability to work with tools, hardware, and power equipment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable using handheld devices (PDA/tablet) to log work, materials, and reports
- CSCS Card (desirable)
- PASMA / IPAF certification (desirable)
- Full, clean driving licence
- DBS check required prior to starting
- 2-5 years’ experience within a property maintenance environment
