Operations Planner
SLR Recruitment are delighted to be working with a local shipping client who are looking for an Operations Planner to join their team based in Portsmouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to join a busy operations team, playing a key role in the efficient planning of vessel and terminal operations while coordinating the terminal’s operational workforce.
Role Details:
Salary: £33,000 – £37,000 DOE
Hours: 40 hours per week
Rotation: 3-week rota: 2 weeks Monday-Friday, followed by 1 week Wednesday-Sunday

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate vessel and terminal operations efficiently.
- Coordinate and schedule the terminal’s operational labour force
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth day to day operations
- Monitor operational activity and respond quickly to changing priorities
- Ensure planning is completed accurately while meeting operational deadlines
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the business
- Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely and effective manner
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience within shipping, logistics or operations planning
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- An awareness of commercial and financial considerations
- Experience using Terminal Operating Systems would be advantageous, but is not essential
- Full time, permanent position
- 40 hour working week with a structured 3 week rotating shift pattern
