We are looking for an enthusiastic Carpenter Multi to join our busy maintenance team across the University of Southampton’s residential halls and estates. This permanent role is perfect for someone with relevant qualifications and a mix of commercial and domestic carpentry experience, looking to grow their career in a supportive workplace.
 
What You’ll Do:

• Carry out general carpentry repairs in student accommodation and estates, including doors (fire doors), first and second fix carpentry, kitchen installations, wall tiling, carpet tiling, minor decorative works, and glazing.
• Respond to emergency repairs efficiently and professionally.
• Keep clients and the office updated on work progress.
• Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe and clean condition.
• Work safely, following risk assessments, method statements, and PPE guidelines.
• Be flexible to work out-of-hours and participate in the call-out rota.

Skills & Experience:

• NVQ Level 2-3 in Carpentry (or equivalent).
• 2-5 years in building maintenance, ideally in an educational environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, practical health and safety approach, and self-motivated.
• Comfortable communicating with residents and university staff.
• Competent with tools and knowledgeable about building materials and methods.

Other Requirements:

• Must pass a Basic DBS check.
