Portsmouth | Full-Time | £33,000-£37,000 DOE
 
SLR are looking for an organised and proactive Operations Planner. This is an office-based role with occasional requirement to climb vessel gangways, so a reasonable level of fitness is needed.
 
You’ll be the first point of contact for shipping lines and agents, planning safe and efficient vessel, container, and labour operations.
 
What You’ll Do:

  • Plan vessel and terminal operations, including berth allocation and work instructions
  • Maintain accurate records in the Terminal Operating System
  • Liaise with shipping lines, crews, authorities, and internal teams
  • Plan container movements and coordinate cargo availability
  • Prepare labour plans, training schedules, and overtime lists
  • Manage operational absence records and support HR processes

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience in vessel, terminal, logistics, or distribution planning
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office + TOS experience)
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
  • IOSH certificate desirable

 
Hours & Rota:
07:00-16:00 or 08:00-17:00
The current rota runs on a 2-week Mon-Fri / 2-week Wed-Sun pattern.
With a third Planner in post, this is expected to shift to 3 weeks Mon-Fri and 1 week Wed-Sun.
