Surveyor – Woking

Salary: £45,000

Our company delivers responsive maintenance and void works for Woking Borough Council, covering both in-hours work and an out-of-hours call-out rota. We’re now looking for an experienced Surveyor to join the team.
This role suits someone practical, detail-focused, and confident in diagnosing building defects — particularly damp, mould, and disrepair. You’ll carry out building surveys, specify remedial works, and manage small projects from start to finish, working with both subcontractors and directly employed operatives.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Carrying out building surveys and producing clear technical reports
  • Diagnosing root causes of defects (not just treating symptoms)
  • Scoping, managing, and signing off repair and refurbishment works
  • Managing quality, compliance, health & safety, and value for money
  • Supporting and supervising operatives and contractors on site
  • Dealing professionally with tenants and stakeholders
  • Taking part in an out-of-hours escalation rota when required
What we’re looking for:
  • Strong technical knowledge of building construction and maintenance
  • Proven experience with damp, mould, and building pathology
  • Confident project management skills across multiple trades
  • Good communication, organisation, and IT skills
  • A full UK driving licence
Experience & qualifications:
  • Around 5 years’ experience in building maintenance (commercial experience preferred)
  • Background in surveying, building pathology, or planned and reactive maintenance
  • HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4+, or degree in Building Surveying/Construction (RICS/CIOB and PCA certifications desirable)
