SLR‘s mission

Our goal is to connect time-served marine and industrial tradespeople to employees in the shipbuilding and refit business around the UK. The team has worked out of Portsmouth for some years now and has cemented this investment in the city by opening our new base in Southsea. Portsmouth has a long and rich history with the Maritime industry and the team is made up of individuals that have lived and worked in the city all their lives. What this gives us is a unique understanding of the local community and insight into the job market. In addition, we recognise that many people in the city have a connection to the MOD or the Royal Navy.

Knowledge of opportunities for ex-military personnel

We recognise at SLR that service in the Armed Forces equips candidates with a unique set of skills and experience. Because we are based locally and have built relationships with local shipyards as well as Falmouth, Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, and Barrow-in-Furness, we can quickly connect the right candidate to the right opportunities. The whole team is equipped with the understanding that is needed for our ex-military tradespeople. We know full well how daunting it can be to leave the services and it’s that understanding of the challenges of transition that makes SLRunique.

Our team are highly trained and able to explain and demystify terminology around job specs and help candidates understand their value in the civilian job market. We have always been warm and welcoming over the phone and this now extends to our office in Grove Road so that we can open our doors and continue to deliver warmth and human smile to our jobseekers. There are larger recruiters that simply cannot deliver this personal human touch that we provide pride ourselves on at SLR.
